Be my bride for a 3rd time

August 7, 2007

A couple have wed for the third time - and now say it really is until death us do part. Jean and Bert Jolley met in a pub 38 years ago when he was already married.

Bert said: “She was beautiful. After my first wife and I split up I chased Jean until she gave in.”

Bert and Jean wed four years later and had five children but in 1985 rows led to divorce.

But the split only lasted three months and fitter engineer Bert said: “We decided were still clearly in love and should remarry.” A row six years later led to another divorce - by mistake. The tiff was sorted and they stayed together but Jean forgot to tell her solicitor and the marriage was officially ended. Now the couple, from Blackburn, have just walked up the aisle for the third time. Bert explained: “Jean always joked she would only marry me again if I had one foot in the grave. I have had two heart bypasses now, so this time it’s for good.”

Windows a VIRUS??

March 19, 2007

No, Windows is not a virus. Here’s what viruses do:

1.They replicate quickly - okay, Windows does that.

2.Viruses use up valuable system resources, slowing down the system as they do so - okay, Windows does that.

3.Viruses will, from time to time, trash your hard disk - okay, Windows does that too.

4.Viruses are usually carried, unknown to the user, along with valuable programs and systems. - Sigh.. Windows does that, too.

5.Viruses will occasionally make the user suspect their system is too slow (see 2) and the user will buy new hardware. - Yup, Windows does that, too.

Until now it seems Windows is a virus but there are fundamental differences: Viruses are well supported by their authors, are running on most systems, their program code is fast, compact and efficient and they tend to become more sophisticated as they mature.

So Windows is not a virus.

It’s a bug.
